Dr. Martha Montero-Sieburth, a beloved AUC professor, will be bringing her academic expertise and personal heritage to the stage. She will be speaking about the cultural traditions of Dia de los Muertos and how the Mexican perspective on death can change your life. Dr. Montero-Sieburth is multi-, cross- and intercultural educational anthropologist and Lecturer in Social Sciences and Humanities at Amsterdam University College since 2010. She has studied American urban schooling, Latinos, and Mexicans in New England, issues of bilingualism and curriculum development in Latin America, interculturalism and Latin Americans in Spain as well as Dutch Turkish high school students in Dutch black schools. She specializes in Mexican culture and has studied Mexican cultural traditions, folklore and dance and has carried out research on the first and second generations of Mexicans in the Netherlands.
